Import Restrictions

Senders should determine import restrictions from the country's authorities before posting:

  • eggs, powdered egg whites or yolks
  • fresh fruit
  • pasta
  • pharmaceuticals

  • sugar, icing sugar
  • transmitters and receivers
  • television receivers
  • tea
  • war materials
  • weapons.

Prohibited Items

In addition to items considered non-mailable matter, the following are prohibited:

  • barley flour
  • bearer securities
  • bread
  • currency and securities
  • dairy produce, birds eggs
  • drugs, prescription
  • fish, fresh or frozen
  • fresh or frozen vegetables
  • milk, fresh or pasteurized
  • liquor
  • lottery tickets and advertising
  • meat and meat products
  • mineral water for drinking
  • oil products
  • Pharmaceuticals and helath therapies
  • preserved olives
  • preparations or preserves in vinegar and vine leaves
  • soaps, washing powders
  • table salt
  • toilet paper and sanitary towels
  • tomatoe juice, canned tomatoes, tomatoe pulp
  • vegetable or animal fats and oils.

In addition, an import permit is required for many goods mailed to Jordan. Before posting any item, senders should confirm that the addressee has any necessary permit. Commercial goods require an invoice.

Gifts

Gifts to the value of $110CDN do not require an import permit and should bear the endorsement UNSOLICITED GIFT.

The following documents may also be required:

1. Invoice detailing; quantity, type, number of goods as well as weight, value and names of buyer and seller

2. Certificate of Origin

3. Declaration for value of goods over 2000 JD.

Customs Procedures:

Jordan uses the single administrative document (SAD) for import declarations. A paper copy of the declaration must be given to Customs, accompanied by supporting documents.
