Import Restrictions

An import permit is required for many goods. Before posting any item, senders should confirm that the addressee has any necessary permit. Senders should determine import restrictions from the country's authorities before posting:

• butter and margarine
• milk products
• meat and meat products
• medicines
• plants and parts of plants
• weapons and parts.

Prohibited Items

In addition to items considered non-mailable matter, the following are prohibited:

• antiques
• deeds
• drugs, non-prescription
• film, commercial
• items offensive to Muslim culture
• ivory
• jewellery
• liquid
• pork
• publications contrary to public order
• salt
• tapes, audio / video
• tea
• tobacco products.

Commercial goods mailed to Libyan Jamahiriya require an invoice in duplicate.

The sender should provide a Certificate of Origin for all commercial goods, plants, and foods.
