Import Restrictions

An import permit is required for many goods. Before posting any item, senders should confirm that the addressee has any necessary permit. Senders should determine import restrictions from the country's authorities before posting:

  • beverages, spirits
  • coffee, tea and spices
  • cereals
  • cocoa and cocoa preparations
  • coffee and tea
  • copper and articles thereof

  • cutlery
  • cutting of vegetables
  • dairy produce
  • essential oils
  • fruit and vegetable products
  • fish and aquatic invertebrates
  • fertilisers
  • glass and glassware
  • jewellery
  • measuring instruments and apparatus
  • musical instruments
  • pharmaceutical products
  • plants or plant products
  • printed publications
  • products of the milling industry
  • perfume

Watch cases or housings (mounted or unmounted) of complete watches made of precious metals may be accepted after analysis of the metal content. It does not accept articles containing incomplete watch cases or parts.

Postal items addressed to individuals not exceeding $100US are exempt from customs duty.

Items inherited abroad and articles provided for in contracts concluded between States may be freely imported in accordance with such contracts.

Natural persons of Macedonian nationality exercising a profession may import articles for use in that profession subject to special conditions.

Prohibited Items

In addition to items considered non-mailable matter, the following are prohibited:

  • fish and acquatic vertebrates
  • fruits
  • graphite products
  • live animals
  • meat and meat products
  • satellite / satellite parts
  • seeds
  • technical drawings.
  • vegetables.

Documentation Required

The following documentation or information may be required:

1. Proforma Invoice

2. Commercial Invoice

3. Phyto Certificate (plants and seeds)

4. Veterinary and Sanitary Certificate (meat and processing).

The sellers internet site description and value of imported goods may be required for items.

In addition, senders must provide proof of the addressee's entitlement on the customs form; otherwise, the addressee must provide the proof before delivery.

Customs authorities inspect all Parcels. Senders should mark all gifts and accompanying documents gift parcel or envoi cadeau. All commercial goods must include an invoice.

Customs Procedures:

For the import of postal items, goods are generally divided into dutiable and non-dutiable categories. Dutiable items are processed and opened by a postal worker in the presence of a customs officer, who is responsible for the calculation of duties and charges. Non-dutiable items are processed for delivery and circulation. Non dutiable items are non-commercial in nature, sent by a letter or parcel with a value of up to 45 Euro’s (expressed in Macedonian Denar equivalent), provided that there is no obligation to pay import duties, which can include, but is not limited to: small gifts, promotional material, and small samples etc. Items containing alcoholic beverages, perfumes, toilet water and tobacco and related products are dutiable products regardless or value.
