Goods under IATA Special Provisions A67 require a MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet).

It is not required for all, however shipments can be held by local authority in United Arab Emirates after screening due to lack of MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) or NON DG (Dangerous Goods) declaration letter from the shipper resulting to misconnections and impacting end-to-end service.

It would be advisable for all shipments originating, transiting and terminating for UAE to have MSDS or NON DG declaration from shipper enclosed in the shipment and copies to be uploaded in IDIS.

An exemption is applied to non-commercial shipments valued under 20,000.00 Comptoirs Francais du Pacifique franc (XPF). Duty is applied to all commercial shipments, meaning shipments containing items for professional use.

Shipments valued 10,000.00 XPF or greater require a formal Customs entry.

UPS cannot deliver to a P.O. Box address. All packages require a consignee's contact name and complete street address including apartment, suite or unit number if applicable. The consignees telephone number must be provided to avoid delay in delivery.

All shipments meant for another island than Tahiti, needs to be transferred by air or sea if the island is not served by air. The consignee needs to pick up at the airport or port as there is no delivery service in these islands.

For shipments to outer islands, please write name of island within address section followed by postal code 98713 Papeete.

Billing Options
  • Shipping charges can be billed to the shipper or a third party.
  • When billing the receiver, either the shipper or receiver's account number is required.
  • When billing a third party, the third party's name, country or territory and account number are required.
Duties and taxes can only be be billed to the receiver.
  • Please note the following third party billing exceptions:
    • Shipments to and from the same country or territory (domestic shipments) cannot be billed to third party payors in other countries or territories. For example, shipments from Mexico to Mexico or Canada to Canada cannot be billed to a third party payor in the U.S. This rule does not apply to UPS domestic services in European Union countries or territories. For example, shipments from Germany to Germany can be billed to a third party payor in the U.S. (as long as the payor is a business and has a VAT or Tax/EIN ID on file with UPS).
  • When paying by credit card, check, or cash, only the shipper can be billed the shipping charges

Invoice Requirements
Non-document shipments to French Polynesia must include 1 original and 2 copies of an invoice. The invoice should include:

  • Consignee's telephone number
  • A clear and accurate description of the goods
  • Currency (for example, USD)
  • Currency amount
  • Itemized value for each item, including a unit value and a total value for each item
  • Transportation charges
  • Declared Value (which cannot be lower from the commercial value of the good)
  • Insurance

Special Clearance Requirements
Phytosanitary certificate or proof of fumigation is required for customs clearance. The material must meet below requirements prior to shipping.

a. Dry (Humidity percentage less than 25%).

b. Free from live pests e.g. bugs or cockroaches

c. Free from soil, leaves and other extraneous matters.

d. Packaging and shipping methods must be able to prevent infestation or contamination. Example, appropriate packaging (e.g. plastic wrapping, 6-sided boxing, closed shipping containers and etc.) is used.

e. Article with or more than 4 mm thickness and equal or more 1 meter long must be packed in sealed commercial packaging. They must also have undergone treatment, such as methyl bromide fumigation.

Importation for personal use is authorized without phytosanitary documentation if quantity and size of items are reasonable. Articles must be treated, destroyed or re-exported at importers expenses should any infestation or contamination be detected.
